1942.7 graduated from the 4th Hei-class flight training course → posted to the 6th Naval Air Group → October moved up to Buin (as a replacement) → 1942.10.23 attack on Guadalcanal (first victory) → fought through the Solomons, Rabaul and New Guinea (to 1943.10) → 1943.5.13 air combat over the Russell Islands (as wingman to Lt 宮野: he shot down one Corsair, was hit, and while breaking away engaged two more Corsairs and shot one down, force-landing on Kolombangara) → commended for meritorious conduct by the commanding officer of the 204th Naval Air Group → duty with the Yokosuka Naval Air Group → spring 1945 air defence fighting over the Kanto district → end of the war → after the war, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force
While withdrawing after being hit, turned the tables on a pursuing enemy aircraft and shot it down, then survived by making a forced landing
