1937 entered the navy (maintenance rating) → 1940.6 graduated from the 50th pilot trainee (the Pilot Trainee Course (Sōren)) class (transferred to the fighter-pilot branch) → 1941.9 posted to 千歳 Naval Air Group (air defense of Taroa in the Inner South Seas) → 1942.2.1 interception when the US task force struck (his first kill) → stationed in the Marshall Islands → 1943.7 the 〔201st Naval Air Group〕 (Buin base in the Solomons) → 1944.2 transferred to Iwo Jima (Iwo Jima) → fighting across the Solomons, Rabaul and New Guinea → 1944.6 detached to Iwo Jima (flying as wingman to 坂井三郎); on 6.24, in the attack on the task force, he made a night passage back over the sea → 1945.2 the 〔203rd Naval Air Group〕 (the Okinawa air battle) → the end of the war → after the war he served in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and retired at the mandatory retirement age.

Fought at Iwo Jima as the wingman of 坂井三郎, and survived a nighttime breakthrough flight over the ocean
