Born in Ehime Prefecture; nicknamed Poppo in the Tainan Naval Air Group; graduated from the 9th Otsu-class flight training course in 1941.11 → posted to the Tainan Naval Air Group in 1942.2, moving up to Rabaul in April and then to Lae, with his first victory in the attack on Port Moresby on the 10th → fought through New Guinea and the Solomons → missing (killed) in the attack on Guadalcanal on 13 September, with 19 aircraft (officially credited) shot down in less than half a year
