1940 entered the 13th Otsu-class Yokaren → 1943.3 completed the 26th flight training course → Nagoya and Atsugi Naval Air Groups → late 1943.9 posted to the 204th Naval Air Group (committed to the Rabaul front) → 1943.10.24 air combat over Rabaul (first victory) → daily interception and offensive operations → at the end of 1944.1, when the 204th Naval Air Group withdrew to Truk, he transferred to the 253rd Naval Air Group (interception over Rabaul) → in mid-February he withdrew with the 253rd Naval Air Group to Truk → 1944.6.19 Operation A-Go (Truk → Guam; attacked by enemy aircraft just before landing, escaping a few days later by medium attack bomber and returning to Japan by submarine) → July transferred to Fighter Squadron 308 and incorporated into the 221st Naval Air Group → mid-October Operation Sho-Go (via Taiwan to the Clark base in the Philippines; the Leyte offensive and interceptions), then forward to Jolo and the dawn attack on Morotai → 1945.1 returned to Japan for training duty at the Tsukuba Naval Air Group; end of the war
