1926 entered the navy → 1928.12 graduated from the 13th pilot trainee (the Pilot Trainee Course (Sōren)) class (a fighter pilot of the pioneer years) → 1932.1 the First Shanghai Incident (aboard the carrier Kaga, as No.2 to Lt 生田乃木次) → 1932.2.22, over Suzhou, he engaged Robert Short's Boeing P-12 and shot it down with simultaneous fire from below and astern (said to be the first aerial victory by Japanese air forces); he was commended by 野村, Commander-in-Chief of the Third Fleet → spring 1938 posted to the 〔12th Naval Air Group〕 (Central China front; 13 shot down in three months) → the following year he was discharged into the reserve and joined Greater Japan Airways as an air transport pilot → 1944.8.26 went missing off the Malay Peninsula; officially declared killed in action.

Together with Lieutenant 生田乃木次, achieved the first officially recognized kill by shooting down the aircraft of Robert Short, an American volunteer aviator
