1941.9 graduated from the 4th Kō-class flight training course and joined the carrier Shōkaku → the Hawaii and Indian Ocean operations → 1942.5.8, in the Battle of the Coral Sea, flew with the fighter escort attacking the US task force (four shot down) → the Aleutian operation (temporarily aboard Jun'yō) → back to Shōkaku, the South Pacific operations → 1942.8.24 the Second Battle of the Solomons (combat air patrol) → detached to the Buka base → the Guadalcanal operation (one aircraft each) → 1942.10.26 the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands → 1943.2 sent to Rabaul for the Guadalcanal withdrawal operation; on 2.4, over Guadalcanal, he shot down two dive-bombers and two fighters, then in a head-on pass traded fire with an enemy aircraft, was hit, ditched and was rescued → hospitalized with his wounds, sent home and transferred to a transport unit (the 〔1001st Naval Air Group〕), where the war ended for him.
