Received its colours in 1874→under the 1st Division (Tokyo)→1 November 1944, landed as reinforcement at Ormoc, ten days after the American landing on Leyte→changed its intended course and fought the decisive engagement with US forces on the Limon Pass front in northern Leyte→held the pass at all costs at a disadvantage of 36 American guns against 150 on the Japanese side→around January 1945, fell back along the mountain tracks
According to the book, though greatly outgunned in artillery, the regiment held off American forces at Limon Pass.
