War record
After being disbanded, re-formed at Nara→under the 31st Division, given the defence of the lower Chindwin in northern Burma→March 1944, crossed the Chindwin in the Imphal operation and advanced on Kohima→worn down by attacks from British tank units while ammunition and food failed to reach it→it is recorded that the men staved off hunger with rations captured from British-Indian food stores at Kohima
According to the book, with neither ammunition nor food getting through, the regiment was worn down by British material superiority, and staved off starvation on rations from a captured enemy food depot.
