War record

December 1941 – March 1942. Landed under enemy fire on Tarakan (an oil-producing area) as the 坂口 Detachment (built around the 146th Infantry Regiment)→took the key points of Borneo (the Balikpapan and Bandjermasin sectors)→then joined the invasion of Java (the conquest of the Netherlands East Indies) and pushed on towards Surabaya

According to the book, the 坂口 Detachment split into a right-wing unit and a left-wing unit and succeeded in capturing Tarakan Island with a pincer attack from the south and east.
