War record

January–May 1942 (part of the 56th Division). Landed at Rangoon with the task of taking Burma, then advanced on Lashio to secure the road into Yunnan in China→the 松本 echelon (regimental commander 松本喜吉) took Lashio→pressed the pursuit on northwards to Myitkyina→advanced as far as the Burma–Yunnan border country, took Myitkyina completely, and took part in the 56th Division's mopping-up operations in northern Burma

According to the book, the 松本 echelon pressed a fierce pursuit, determined not to let the retreating Chinese army get away after it abandoned roughly 200 vehicles.
