February 1943, re-formed at Tsu→under the 53rd Division, moved into Burma and took part as a transport and supply unit for the Imphal plain→May 1944, took "the wooded height" (ガランジャール), but came under concentrated British-Indian fire and lost more than about 200 men killed, the battalion commander among them
The regiment occupied the "wooded heights" at ガランジャール, but suffered devastating losses under concentrated British-Indian artillery fire.
