23 March 1944, received its colours at Hirosaki→posted to Biak (together with navy air-defence units and others)→27 May 1944, US forces landed at Bosnek in eastern Biak→the counter-attack at the water's edge failed and the regiment held out for a little over two months in cave positions (the East Cave and the West Cave)→in early June the 1st Battalion was wiped out→the move of the 玉田 Brigade sent as reinforcement was cancelled→organised fighting ended; 83 survivors were recovered
