November 1943 (part of the 6th Division). Given the defence of south-eastern Bougainville→1 November 1943, US forces landed at Torokina→planned a counter-landing, but it was never carried out→reinforcements arrived and the line was restored, but the Americans were allowed to establish their beachhead and the regiment fell back
