Under the 123rd Division, posted to the bank of the Amur and the 孫呉 front→9 August 1945 the war opened; it ran into Soviet forces in thick fog and its formation broke up→was surrounded and fought hard at the 西山 and 河南 positions

The record states that, with the 西山 position surrounded, a small defending force kept up resistance for several days.
