War record

Received its colours in 1878→formed at Aomori, under the 8th Division→September 1944, sent from Luzon as reinforcement to Palompon in west-central Leyte→with the Americans holding command of the sea, it sought a set-piece "battle" that never came about→was almost entirely wiped out at Libongao→withdrew into the Canguipot range and fought on in the mountains→the regimental commander and others burned the colours

Without control of the sea, the regiment aimed for a decisive "pitched battle" that never came and, after ceremonially burning its regimental colours, vanished into the mountains.
