Arrived off Kota Bharu on the night of 7 November 1941 as the main body of the 佗美 Detachment→8 December, landed under enemy fire on the Kota Bharu shore→took the Kota Bharu airfield→before noon on 9 December, took the town of Kota Bharu→moved south down the Malay Peninsula and joined the division's main body at Kluang→took part in the assault on Singapore→moved on to the invasion of Burma→protracted defensive fighting in the Hukawng valley (Meiktila sector)→held the defence of northern Burma until the war ended
The book records an episode in which Regimental Commander 那須 personally crossed to a sandbar in the raging floodwaters to rescue a unit that had been stranded there.
