1921年10月29日 進水→1923年8月15日 竣工→1937年8月、伊号潜水艦・戦艦部隊とともに長江河口沿岸で作戦行動→1941年12月、開戦劈頭の香港攻略戦に参加→1942年5月、小スンダ列島戡定作戦に参加→1942年11月、第三次ソロモン海戦に伴うガダルカナル島飛行場砲撃支援部隊としてショートランドを出撃、空襲で損傷→1944年9月、対潜掃討部隊・第三十一戦隊旗艦となり、10月にはレイテ沖海戦（エンガノ岬沖海戦）に第三艦隊の一員として参加→1944年11月、コレヒドール島沖で米潜水艦ヘイクの魚雷を受け大破→1945年4月7日、スンバワ島北方で米潜水艦ガビラン・チャーの魚雷を受け沈没。1945年6月20日除籍
