1941年7月2日 進水→1942年6月11日 竣工→1942年10月、ガダルカナル島への鼠輸送作戦（第四水雷戦隊旗艦）に従事→1943年1月19日、アメリカ潜水艦ノーチラスの雷撃を受け損傷→1943年12月-1944年1月、戊三号輸送部隊としてカビエン輸送に従事、対空戦闘に参加→1944年6月、マリアナ沖海戦に第一機動部隊護衛艦として参加、空母「翔鶴」乗組員を救助→1944年10月25日、レイテ沖海戦エンガノ岬沖海戦で被弾・沈没→1944年10月25日、レイテ沖海戦エンガノ岬沖海戦で被弾・自艦魚雷誘爆により沈没。1944年12月10日除籍
