1916年11月12日 進水→1917年12月15日 竣工→1941年12月8日 真珠湾攻撃を行う南雲機動部隊の損傷空母収容を想定し太平洋上に進出→1942年12月-1943年9月 呉工廠で航空戦艦に改装（後部主砲塔2基を撤去し飛行甲板・格納庫を設置）→1944年10月 レイテ沖海戦（エンガノ岬沖海戦）で小沢機動部隊本隊の一艦として参加→1944年11月-1945年2月 北号作戦に参加し南方から資源を輸送、無傷で呉へ帰還→1945年7月24日・28日 呉軍港空襲により直撃弾を受け大破・着底→1945年7月28日着底（呉軍港空襲で大破）。1945年11月20日除籍、解体
伊勢型戦艦1番艦。太平洋戦争後半に航空戦艦へ改装され、搭載機数22機という軽空母並みの航空打撃力を持った
