1939年7月19日 進水→1941年1月24日 竣工→1941年12月 真珠湾攻撃時にオアフ島北東沖を哨戒→1941年12月 カリフォルニア州メンドシノ岬沖等アメリカ西海岸で通商破壊戦に従事し輸送船・タンカーを攻撃→1942年2月24日 エルウッド精油所を艦砲射撃→1942年5月 アリューシャン方面の戦い(AL作戦)に参加→1943年3月 ビスマルク海海戦(第八十一号作戦)の生存者救助に従事し陸軍兵士等152名を救助→1943年8月19日、ヌーメア沖アメデ灯台南南東55浬地点(南緯23度26分東経166度50分付近)でニュージーランド掃海艇トゥイおよび米飛行艇の攻撃により撃沈。艦長原田毫衛少佐以下乗員97名戦死。1943年12月1日除籍。
