Part of the 9th Division→after the war ended, on 16 August 1945, Soviet forces invaded Shumshu in the Kurils while the regiment was preparing to disarm→it re-armed its tanks and fought in self-defence near 四嶺山; the fighting stopped on 18 August

The record states that, after the war ended, while preparing to disarm, the regiment was ambushed and retook its tanks to fight back.
