War record

Formed at Keijo (Seoul)→under the 49th Division→25 February 1945, a garrison force was hurriedly put together (under Major General 粕谷留吉) to meet the British forces crossing the Irrawaddy at Meiktila→March, tried to retake Meiktila but the general attack failed→the regiment took crippling losses, with the whereabouts of its colours unknown→8 April, the regimental commander 十時和彦 took his own life

When the whereabouts of the regimental colours became unknown, the regimental commander took responsibility for the defence and took his own life.

At Meiktila in Burma the regimental colour went missing, and the commander took responsibility and took his own life on 8 April 1945. The colour had been received ten months earlier
