War record
1 April 1945, US forces landed on the main island of Okinawa→at first the regiment kept silent on the Ginowan front, staying off the line and guarding the rear→the 32nd Army headquarters (Lieutenant General 牛島満) was in the caves at Shuri ／ from 19 April 1945 it moved up from the rear to the front→clashed hard with the American general attack (19 April)→May, fought the US 77th Division for the position at Ishimine ／ 17 June 1945, the cave position was destroyed by attack with demolition charges→23 June, the regiment's last position was the three heights east of Maezato (south of Itoman)→the same day the chief of staff of the 32nd Army 長勇 (the source gives only the surname 長) took his own life
Immediately after landing, the regiment did not engage the American forces, instead taking up a rear position to consolidate its defences.
