July–August 1944 (part of the 41st Division). After the withdrawal to the "Absolute National Defence Zone", took part in the "Mō" Operation, which proclaimed the recapture of Hollandia, and advanced towards Aitape→fought hard against American counter-attacks, and the book records that it became a desperate battle that halved the regiment's strength
