War record
Formed at Himeji; had been stationed in Taiwan but was moved to Luzon at the end of 1944→posted a garrison (mainly at オロアオロ and パンガック) around Mount Natib on the Bataan peninsula→the Americans landed in January 1945, and the regiment resisted by holding its fire until the tanks closed, and with light machine guns, grenade dischargers and night close-assault raids→the garrison was pressed back to the north-eastern slope of Mount Natib and almost entirely wiped out
The defenders hid in foxholes to draw in the American forces advancing with tanks in the lead, then opened massed fire before launching a close-quarters charge. On the Salacsac Pass front, where the 1st Battalion was wiped out, only eight men are said to have survived.

A fragment of the regimental colours is said to have been placed in the museum at the JGSDF Himeji garrison in 1965
