War record
October 1942 (part of the 2nd Division). Given the sector west of the Matanikau River→early October, US forces pushed towards the Matanikau to secure the defence line around the airfield→the main body of the regiment fought the Americans around Point Cruz and 小川→losses mounted under American counter-attacks and heavy rain, and it fell back to the rear line facing Point Cruz

Its barracks still stand, said to be the oldest pseudo-Western building in Miyagi Prefecture. Restored to its appearance at the time of the Russo-Japanese War, it is open to the public as the Sendai City Museum of History and Folklore.
