War record
March 1944 (part of the 6th Division). The 岩佐 and 牟田 units and others were formed around the 45th Infantry Regiment for an all-out attack on the American positions at the Torokina beachhead (Hill 600 and others)→made four successive general attacks between 8 and 15 March→took heavy losses from superior American firepower (tanks, flamethrowers and the like) and the attack failed→the book records that killed and wounded reached about 70 per cent of the regiment as a whole
According to the book, casualties in the general assault force reached roughly 70 percent — a fierce fight in which, as the record puts it, "there was no beating the tanks."

What is still not known
- Code name: not confirmed from our source.
- Men of this unit: apart from the commander, no names have been gathered yet.
This card is made only of facts copied from one book. Only what can be confirmed against a primary source will one day become 🟢. An empty field means the book does not say. Nothing has been filled in by guesswork.
