War record

Part of the Ogasawara Army Group→July 1944, the transport carrying it from Mudanjiang to Iwo Jima was sunk and most of its tanks were lost→formed the backbone of the redoubt positions and fought a protracted defence in February–March 1945; the main body was annihilated (gyokusai)

Even after losing tanks in transit, the regiment fought a war of attrition to the end as the backbone of the island's fortified position.
